The student’s machine must have the permission to read from and write into the folder that contains the student records (usually located on the teacher’s computer).

1. Using the teacher’s Mac, select the master folder on the teacher’s computer that contains the “Accounts” and “Progress” folders that you created for storing the students’ records.
2. Press “Command + I” or select “Get Info” from the File menu.
3. In the “Ownership & Permissions” section at the bottom of the window open the “Details” and set permissions so that the “Group” and “Others” can “Read & Write” to this folder. Click the checkbox (OS X 10.5 and later) or press the button (OS X 10.4) to make sure that changes “Apply to Enclosed Items.”
